![]() Q & A on video #15 – What was your favorite choreography to do with Michael Jackson?there’s just something wonderful about vincent paterson’s choreography. every movement has a reason, a story, an intention… because it has a background it often transcends the medium of dance to put the communication on a pedestal. he can tell you what each movement means and why its there. and he will tell you very readily… and by doing so give motivation and common universal truths for the dancers to experience and express while they dance. its something i strive to convey in all choreography i perform… to express the poetry of the movement, to tell the words that are unspoken. even if i have to make up my own. even if its just a dirty limerick. you are always saying something when you move, body language is something we ALL speak, even if we dont always listen we can feel it. vincent taught me that the intention behind the movement is more powerful and says more than the movement itself. its not about the fastest step. or the sexiest step. or the most complicated. or the most amazing musicality. it’s about the COMMUNICATION. in a piece like this i actually felt like i was speaking aloud. this song meant a lot to michael and he was happy and an absolute joy to work and play with. here’s the piece from MTV’s 10th anniversary special… 2 Responses to “Q & A on video #15 – What was your favorite choreography to do with Michael Jackson?”Leave a Reply |

OK today in chorus class we presented a project on our favorite performers and this one girl chose Micheal Jackson, and after her powerpoint we watched the MTV video. Me and my sister reconized the picture from here and we were like “ommg kevin’s a dancer in this!” it made our day. I don’t know why I’m posting this, but anyways you were really good!
