![]() Kevin’s Q & A #24: How did i start my career?i anxiously held my breath when i heard my name. i was 10 and leaving 6th grade and Eastside elementary for a scary future at Roosevelt middle school. our class had invaded Eugene’s rhododendron garden on the hill like swarming ants, and our teachers were giving us ‘Most likely to…’ awards. visit the moon? work in fast food? drop out? “Kevin…. MOST LIKELY TO JOIN A CIRCUS!” what? little did i know how prophetic that day was. my life is truly a circus of the most amazing characters and moments, and i’ve joined and done my time. from spectator to sideshow, im all about running the ring right now. it really is true that others know you better than you know yourself i will totally post the headshots i mentioned. truly frightening. though it should give us all hope to know there’s a brighter, less-mullet-y future ahead. not sure if robin antin will let fly the hammer of thor on me if i post hers lol. when does one’s hobby become a career? for me it just seemed like luck and people around me who believed in my talent. julie macdonald, vincent paterson, kenny ortega, marguerite derricks, michael peters, mark lawrence. they are the ones who started my career. it was like i was in the middle of it before i had even realized i was out of school. none of it seemed like work. it definitely feels like work sometimes now, but most of it is all work i enjoy what is the one thing you love doing that you would do even if you weren’t getting paid for it?
